about

I'm fascinated by ghosts and monsters. In Japanese, the word for ghost is "obake" (pronounced oh-bah-kay). One day I had the idea of a haunted radio, or an obake radio, that played music from beyond our world. I don't think my music is anything nearly that fantastic but I often think of the unconscious as an unknown and uncanny place, much like the liminal world that ghosts and monsters come from. Music emerges from this unknown place inside me and ends up recorded. I know that I made it—I was there, after all, pressing keys and turning dials—but sometimes I feel like I'm only an engineer, there to capture the sounds as they emerge from the other side. I wonder if this is what ghosts really are—echoes from our unconscious. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the music. - Adam Douglas (Kemek)
